Manufacturing a lens - traditional technology In this section, BBGR gives an illustrated overview of the various stages involved in manufacturing an organic lens - from producing the semi-finished lens to the various possible types of coatings that can be applied and the finished lens itself.
Manufacturing a Lens - Digital Surfacing
Tints Being a colourist is a profession calling for genuine artistic sensitivity, excellent colour vision and a great deal of patience. Lenses react differently according to several different parameters (light, materials, tints, etc.).
Coatings Coating is also a complex and delicate process for which BBGR has developed its own highly specialised expertise. It calls for a great deal of dexterity, since the slightest defect could compromise final product performance.
Quality control When a new product is being launched or, on a more regular basis, for each production run, "sample" lenses are subjected to various quality control checks to measure their performance.
